ORGOC in the Community

ORGOC is a proud corporate citizen who believes in contributing to the well being its community. As our company grows, so does our community involvement and charitable contributions. Historically we have contributed to a variety of charities however in recent years we've become more active in supporting young people in our community as well as fund raising for a variety of charitable events.

Our recent endeavors have included sponsorship of a young woman's Soccer team, Maples Juventus Stars. The Stars compete in the First Division of the Winnipeg Women's Soccer League.

If you are into auto racing you will notice ORGOC's sponsorship of the #27 Modified, driven by Brian Dorge at Red River Co-op Speedway. Brian is a young man with a bright future in racing. You can meet Brian and his racing team at BDIracing.com.

ORGOC made it's first foray into the fundraising area in 2004 when it entered the Society of Manitobans with Disabilities (SMD) fundraiser, Street Hockey Tournament. Not only were we able to raise some money for SMD but we also raised some eyebrows, with our lack of hockey talent. We had a great deal of fun for the only co-ed team in the tournament, and the only team with a goalie with real street hockey goalie equipment. Every other team had real goalies with real equipment.

Our most exciting and enduring fundraising activity is our Dragon Boat team. We are entering our third year and each year so far have improved on our funds raised as well as our placing in the final standings. Look for us at the annual Dragon Boat Festival hosted by the Manitoba Paddling Association . This year, we will be known as simply ORGOC. Normally, this would stand for Occupational Rehabilitation Group of Canada. For the dragonboat races, it NOW stands for 'One Raging Group Of Crazies'! We will be holding practices at the Manitoba Canoe and Kayak Club. The practice dates are: May 22, June 5, June 19, July 10, July 17 and July 24. Race dates are July 27, 28 and 29! Come on out and cheer us on!

And, at Christmas every year, ORGOC teams with the Metis Child and Family Services division to sponsor two families in need. We gather money, clothes, food and toys for these families. This heartwarming partnership is a major part of how we give back to the community and foster growth in families in need.

Our staff individually continue to be involved in a variety of community activities from coaching youth sports teams, volunteer boards and a various fundraising activities. Contributing to the better health of our youth and community is a core value of our organization.
